AC TROUBLESHOOTING
AC Not Turning On? Repair in Kathmandu
An AC that will not start can have a simple power or setting issue, or a fault in a capacitor, contactor, motor, PCB, sensor, or protection circuit. We test the system safely before replacing parts.
Book AC TroubleshootingStart with safe checks, then leave high-voltage and refrigerant-circuit diagnosis to a qualified HVAC technician.
Safe checks you can make first
Confirm the remote has working batteries, the mode is set to cooling, the set temperature is below room temperature, and the dedicated breaker has not tripped. Do not repeatedly reset a breaker or open the outdoor electrical compartment.
- Check remote batteries and display
- Confirm COOL mode and temperature setting
- Check whether the indoor display has power
- Look for a tripped breaker without repeatedly resetting it
- Note any error code or unusual sound

Common technical causes
If basic checks do not help, the issue may involve the indoor or outdoor power supply, fuse, capacitor, contactor, fan motor, compressor, control board, sensor, or a protective shutdown caused by abnormal pressure or temperature.
- Power supply, fuse, or wiring fault
- Failed capacitor or contactor
- Indoor or outdoor fan motor fault
- PCB, communication, or sensor problem
- Compressor or refrigerant protection shutdown

Service coverage
Our engineering team supports AC systems across Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur and the wider Kathmandu Valley.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my AC remote working but the unit is not starting?
The unit may have lost power, be in a protection delay, have a sensor or communication fault, or have a problem in the control board or outdoor section. Check the breaker once and arrange diagnosis if it does not start.
Should I keep resetting the AC breaker?
No. Repeated tripping can indicate an electrical or compressor fault. Leave the system off and arrange a safe inspection.
Can a low refrigerant charge stop an AC from starting?
Some systems use pressure or temperature protection that can prevent operation when a serious refrigerant or airflow problem is detected. Testing is needed to identify the actual cause.
